Atmosphera Catalog: 180 pages, one year of work — behind the scenes of its creation
Atmosphera Catalogue: Behind this simple object distributed everywhere in France from the beginning of the school year lies a complex machinery and a process that took nearly a year to complete.
With each new season, it appears in nearly 500 stores across France. You browse it, bookmark it, and slip it into a bag to show it off. The Atmosphera catalogue is more than just a sales tool: it is the result of a year of collective work involving dozens of trades, thousands of kilometers traveled, and a rigor indispensable at every step.
Inspiring interiors, design ideas, creative combinations of materials and colors, and of course, products that everyone can imagine for their own home. That’s all in the Atmosphera autumn-winter catalog. And while browsing through it may seem quick, designing, producing, and distributing it requires much more effort.
Before being a catalog, it is an intention. The intention to give everyone the keys to feel at home. It is not a collection of products to be discovered casually, but an interior companion: inspiring, practical, accessible. A decorator coach that you keep on your coffee table, that you consult before repainting a room, changing a sofa, or adding that decorative element to your space that was missing.
This ambition is evident throughout its 180 pages. Eight star products among the best-sellers from Atmosphera (the Alara pendant light, the Lucien candle, the Abekas coffee table, the Nyero sideboard, the Stan floor-standing mirror, the Eva plates, the Fiva lamp and the Elyon armchair), And their new variant celebrated in a double page spread. Three dives into the brand’s backstage to discover the work leading to the creation of a collection, the design process and the creation of a motif. Four artisanal know-hows highlighted to remind that behind every product there is expertise and know-how: the pompom, the weaving, the colors, the motifs. Five design trends that shape the zeitgeist, from brown to ballerina for children, through the Japanese atmosphere. Five materials and «Repéré chez Atmo» items for curious and daring people. And in total, nearly 600 products, both aesthetic and accessible, so that everyone can find their perfect match.
Behind every page are talents
What the reader does not see is the entire year of work that precedes the publication.
October. Just a month after the release of the previous catalogue, the teams meet to review the edition and lay the foundations for the next one. Budgets, creative directions, editorial choices: everything is decided upstream, even before the collections are finalized.
The catalogue and its composition are paradoxically built without its own ingredients. The pages are imagined before the products are manufactured. The atmospheres, before the sets are created. Every scene, every combination, every detail is planned in advance, to avoid any last-minute surprises on the day of the photo shoot.
This work involves many employees with very different profiles over an eight-month period: stylists and creatives, product managers, marketing teams, lawyers, agency partners. A project led by the communication teams, where each link is committed with the same level of dedication, driven by mutual trust and shared ambitions.
On the roads, in the scene
June. The time for photo shoots.
For six weeks, the teams travel across France to bring the products to life. Six houses, meticulously selected for their personality and their suitability for the collections they will host: an apartment in Paris with Haussmannian mouldings for a chic and structured collection, a building bathed in light for natural and soothing tones, a characterful residence for a more assertive spirit. Living houses that tell a story, and in which the reader can identify with the characters.
Behind each of them 130 final photos, a meticulous organization: 89 pallets of products — nearly 8,700 kilos of furniture, lightings, textiles and accessories — delivered and installed in six homes located across France and Belgium.
Attention to detail at every moment. Before the scenery is captured, the stylists-decorators transform it into scenes of desirable life. They imagine, choose, arrange: fresh flowers to fill the vases, carefully arranged food on a plate, a plaid thrown over a chair, frames placed on a dresser as if they had always been there. Accessories that complement the settings and bring them to life.
And the catalog comes to life
July-August. The final touches, before the big departure.
Over a month of photo retouching to ensure that every color is faithful, every material is rendered in all its truth. Then comes the printing. During 20 days, the machines are running to produce 700,000 copies,
Once loaded at the printer, the trucks head to the Amiens warehouse, from where the catalogs will be sent to the retailers. 500 partner stores.
But the life of the catalog does not end there. It transforms and travels in other forms. In the showcases of retailers, on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn, in the hands of 135 partner influencers, his images circulate, his atmospheres are exported, his products inspire desires. For several months, the paper object becomes a living phenomenon.
September. The catalogue arrives at the consumer who may discover it on their sofa on a Sunday morning, returns to an atmosphere that inspires them, compares the products, and completes their own space.
A year of collective work, kilometers traveled, and meticulous details for that moment—simple and precious—where the object finally finds its place. And it contributes to Home Beauty by allowing everyone to create a beautiful, responsible interior that suits them.
To go further
Even before the photo shoots, everything starts with a phase of research and inspiration. Colors, materials, lifestyles, emerging trends: the Atmosphera teams fuel their creativity through a multitude of sources in order to build the collections of tomorrow. A process that Véronique Bancells, Director of Style and Seasonal Collections, recounts in our interview «Inspiration is everywhere!».
